C4ISR Center of Excellence, located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, serves as the headquarters of the C4ISR division of the Army and supports their administrative functions, training, and research and development. (C4ISR is an acronym for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance.)
The campus development includes nine buildings which house offices, laboratories, and auditoriums, as well as support facilities. The buildings were constructed to meet anti-terrorist force protection (AT/FP) including blast-resistant facades and structures which resist progressive collapse.
Tidewater Glazing was contracted as a design-build partner to assist in the design, engineering, production and installation of nearly 190,000 square feet of blast resistant punched windows and entry area curtain walls. Features of the windows include exterior louvered sunshades and interior light shelves designed to reduce solar heat gain and reduce the level of interior lighting required.
At the time of commissioning in 2010, C4ISR was the largest single contract completed by Tidewater.
The project received LEED Silver certification in 2011.
